Latest from Transistor Six

Free Week in Austin, TX is like Christmas all over again with hundreds of free music shows spread throughout the first week of the New Year, all across the city. Tonight, the masses filled the warm belly of Frank to witness the live Transistor Six tapings of an unbelievable estrogen powered lineup: Love Inks, Elle King, and Girl in a Coma. The vibrant yet intimate atmosphere was packed with an eclectic, booze swirling crowd that was lucky enough to gain admittance into the capacity crammed show.

Austin's own, Love Inks, served as a delicate appetizer for the evening. The shy minimalistic pop trio humbly took the stage to perform their melodic, dreamlike set and graciously thanked the crowd after every song. The subtle and sweet sounds of "Leather Glove" washed over the eager crowd to cleanse and make way for the fierceness that was to ensue...

Advertised from New York; although, shamefully admitting to Ohio as home, Elle King, commanded the stage as the surprise second course. With banjo in hand, Elle belted out with a rich and raspy soulful southern voice. Songs of hurt and hate towards men bellowed through in a playfully accurate manner as heard in "Good to Be a Man". The literally intoxicating charm of Elle King was incomparable and instantly won over the hearts of many, especially after her cover of Khia's "My neck, my back".

Finally, the feast that everyone was salivating for... Girl in a Coma. The fierce trio of alt rock/punk women hailing from San Antonio displayed their range of versatility in sound and emotion during an extended set. Showcasing a number of songs such as "Smart" from their 4th studio album, Exits & All the Rest, the set appeared rather tame, that is until the cameras stopped rolling and the gloves came off. Everything from haunting echoes to high energy distortion, even the smashing of a bottle during the cover of "Walking After Midnight", Girl in a Coma completely OCCUPIED the free night at Frank!

Three memorable performances you must relieve through the analog experience of Transistor Six.
